Visual Art – Victoria

I live on beautiful Vancouver Island. I grew up surrounded by artists--my mom, dad, grandparents and siblings all interested in their own artistic avenues. My goal in life is for my job title to be 'artist' and to be able to live breathe what it is that I love to do--but isn't that what we all want? But for now, I shall settle with fitting it in between desk-job shifts. I have my Visual Arts Degree from Camosun College as well as a Bachelors in Fine Arts which I received at the University of British Columbia. However, school is not for everyone. And for myself, it managed to take the enjoyment out of being creative. I did not enjoy having my work tailored to suit instructors needs nor have to explain every inch of my work and judged on its meaning versus enjoying the visual qualities of it all. Anyways, following school I went into hibernation and had not touched a pencil in years until now. I have rekindled my love or art in whatever medium or subject matter it may be--I just love to create! I have done a variety of artistic endeavours: Murals, posters, logos, album covers, Girl Guide badges, School agendas, prom tickets, tattoo designs, portraits and more and am open and interested in your ideas! For the past several months my work has been strictly commission portraiture; pet and people, however outside of that my interests are in floral drawings, surrealism, strange and even dark art. I love to explore and create without limitations nor do I have a specific 'type' of art to call my own. If I want to paint realism then I will paint realism, if I am in the mood for abstraction then so be it. I hope to do more than to just draw. I want to inspire, allow others show their appreciation to another, express love, help heal, bring back a smile, commemorate, make laugh, rekindle a memory, and so on...
