Visual Art – Charlotte

My life would be nothing without design. When I’m not designing I’m not living. I grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. My obsession began with my love of colors and art, any kind really, I loved it all. At the encouragement of my mother, also an artist, I was always drawing, painting, or building. Growing up with a mother who encouraged multiple activities and travel, I got to experience a world of art, music, dance, sports, and travel. During high school I found a new passion for mathematics. Realizing the rarity in the unique combination of math and art, I began examining careers that would encompass both of these skills, such as Architecture and Interior Design. I attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, taking up a major in Applied Mathematics and a minor in Art, later obtaining a bachelor\'s degree in Interior Design from The Art Institute of Charlotte. I love creating, and have tried many forms of art, from visual to performing. After college I began exploring the world of oil and acrylic paint, which I only ever dabbled in prior. I constantly experiment with mixed media within my painting; I like to use plastic, paper, glue, spackle, dirt, leaves, grass, packaging popcorn, shredded cardboard, and much more. I like my paintings to be tactile, sculptural, bright and colorful. Design is my life and my passion; paint is now my obsession.
