Coming from an eclectic, artistic family MJ was exposed to various art forms as long as she can remember. Taking cues from the inspirations around her MJ first tested her ability to create as a child. While art appreciation was customary at home it was deemed an interest at school. MJ was encouraged to shelve art in the hobby category to travel more practical avenues. Finding her voice MJ learned to embrace her true self and live outside “the box”. Today she enjoys the freedom of expression and applies that to her pieces.
Almost Poetry became a moniker for MJ’s style of writing; later to be used as the brand name for her artwork. Visual poetry, as she calls it, speaks to the same volumes as the written. MJ finds it healing to bare emotion through art and enjoys hearing what each piece sends forth to viewers.
