Visual Art – Raleigh

B. Dunbar Parker is best known for her ethereal wildlife portraits brought forward to the eye of the viewer through backgrounds of delicate layers adding a soft, almost tangible depth. A brief, quiet moment in time without sound or breathe; when our eyes meet, what is the natural world trying to say ? Listen closely, for not all choose to hear. Parker has painted since childhood in many mediums, but prefers acrylics when it comes to wildlife paintings to obtain a world thick with atmosphere, providing a natural habitat of sorts. With a B.A. in English Literature and her brief practice (yet ongoing passion) as a Wildlife Rehabilitator, she is a daydreamer by nature and painter by curious necessity. While born in Newport, Rhode Island, and raised in Massachusetts for a time, Parker had moved to North Carolina and eventually journeyed to the glorious Appalachian Mountains of Asheville where she now lives with her family, among their various animal friends.
