Visual Art – Baltimore

Mary England is a Baltimore-based Merriment Maker who believes her purpose on this planet is to bring happiness to other people. After struggling with mental illnesses for twenty years, she knows what the dark side looks like and wants to help as many people as possible make it through to the other side where they’ll land on a pile of glitter. After quitting her day job at a psychiatric rehabilitation center, Mary started Uncustomary as a way to integrate creativity and self-love to help people learn how to love their lives, choices, and physical bodies. She creates interactive collaborative projects that connect people from all over the world utilizing snail mail, as well as strangers who live on the same block with the work of guerrilla art. If she’s not teaching someone tips on self-esteem, or encouraging adults to keep play an active part of their lives, you can probably find her twirling in front of a mural and leaving a literal trail of glitter in Charm City.
