I was born in Mexico and came to the US when I was very young. For most of my life I lived the school year in the US and spent all summer long in Mexico with my family. I experienced the richness of my heritage while simultaneously integrating into American life here in California. When I fled the nest that I called home I took in and enjoyed not only the many different cultures that this country has, but the many beautiful customs and traditions that the rest of the world has to offer. I did this by boat, so with that, I was also able to explore the wonderful oceans that I love so much from just about every corner of the world. What I experienced inspired me to become a scientist, but that wasn’t enough. I wanted to learn more and show the rest of the world what I saw and learned. That’s when I picked up a paintbrush and haven’t put it down since.
