Steven is following his dream. After what seems like a lifetime of sitting at a desk and dreaming of turning his wood-turning pastime into a permanent avocation, he took the plunge and launched Function Art out of his home in the Columbia River Gorge. For the past five years he has been selling his wood turned functional art at local Saturday markets and is now a regular vendor at Portland Saturday Market where he can usually be found under the Burnside Bridge in Portland, OR. Some of his most popular creations are the wood rings he turns on his lathe, often inlaid with sparkling metal dusts and other materials molecularly bonded and buffed to a beautiful luster.
