Sarah Karten

I\'m a recent graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a BFA in Fashion Design. I\'ve been involved in the arts from a young age, although I haven\'t always known I wanted to be in Fashion Design. I started out drawing and performing in theatrical productions before graduating to backstage work as a costume designer. I enjoy designing for the stage as well as for ready-to-wear apparel. I strive to create unique, dramatic clothes that are also completely practical and wearable. I\'m currently working on a collection entitled, \'Animal Instinct,\' inspired by the more insidious side of nature. Consisting of tailored separates fabricated using leather, faux fur, and fabric manipulation techniques, this collection is a meditation on textures. I\'m excited to begin sharing the culmination of my efforts around the Boston area.
