Visual Art – Montréal

The work of the artist Sarika Garg is an exploration of the detailed and delicate yarn mesh pulled string by string between the nails until it encapsulates her imaginations. It is a work of creatively curated mesh from the world of yarn which is a very unique form of art in the Montreal scene. Her work focuses on subjects that inspire or impact her extensively. Some examples include her work on the series ‘Shades of Love’ and ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’. The former was inspired by her take on different forms of love while the latter impacted her greatly during a difficult time in her life. She originally hails from India and is living in Canada for the last 10 years. She did her education in Neuroscience from Max Planck Institute, Germany. Living in Canada in extremely cold temperatures makes her reminisce yarn memories from her childhood as her mother is an artist who makes beautiful hand knitted sweaters. So, every time she uses yarn to shape her feelings, she remembers her beautiful childhood. She hopes her work touches millions of hearts and inspires anyone who lays eyes on it.
