Visual Art – Los Angeles

Oliana Afano was born in American Samoa. She is a contemporary expressionist and realist painter who uses acrylics, but often experiments with mixed media, such as glazes and indigo ink. Her painting techniques can be defined by her bold and vibrant use of color and short brush strokes that overlap. She first drew attention to her art by testing the boundaries of glass ware and shoe canvases. Influenced by Basquiat, Voka and Banksy, the theme of her work often appropriates an iconic pop culture image and explores the fragility of the human condition from pleasure, pain, stature, and fallibility. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions, including The Los Angeles Women's Expo, Montrose Arts and Crafts, A Frame Gallery, AC Gallery, The Arclight Hollywood, and on numerous occasions for Pacific Fine Arts in which she was featured in their catalog. Her work can be found in many private collections throughout the United States. She lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
