About Nicole Lawson Dance Projects: Nicole Lawson Dance Projects (NLDP) is a project based dance company founded and directed by Nicole Lawson and based out of Kernersville, NC. Utilizing a creative process that combines socially focused dialogue and movement explorations, the NLDP creates works that explore the intersection of identity, social stigma, and the processes and experiences that instigate social change. NLDP seeks to offer audiences a glimpse of the ways that honest self-reflection and interrogation of assumptions can offer opportunities for dialogue and positive change. About Nicole Lawson (Artistic Director): Nicole Lawson is a dancer, choreographer, teacher, and activist working in the Piedmont Triad community of North Carolina. As a choreographer and Artistic Director of her company, Nicole Lawson Dance Projects, her work investigates the pathways between injustice and hope. The company’s first performance, “I am not a Monster,” was presented in Greensboro, NC at the Greensboro Project Space on November 2 and 3. Additionally, Nicole was part of the inaugural class Artists in Residence with the Greensboro Dance Project in in the winter and spring of 2018. Nicole’s work has been presented by the Stokes County Arts Council, Meredith College in Raleigh, NC, Emergence in Durham, NC, the American Dance Festival’s Student Mobile Tour in Durham, NC and the American College Dance Associations Mid-Atlantic Conference at West Virginia University. As a performer, Nicole has danced with Alex Warren and JOYEMOVEMENT Dance Company, Renay Aumiller Dances, the Carol Finley Dance Group, Kate Davis and the Continuum Collective, and other choreographers including Kristin Sudeikis, Beth Gill, Elizabeth Corbett, and Boby Ari Setiawan. Nicole is a graduate of Meredith College where she received Bachelor of Arts with majors in Dance Studies and Spanish with a certificate in Professional Performance. In addition to her work as a dance instructor with The POINTE! Studio of Dance in Greensboro, Nicole also collaborates with North Carolina public schools as a guest artist.
