Nayda Pirela

Visual Art – Los Angeles

Nayda Pirela is a visual artist and graphic and web designer. Although born in Brookyn, New York in the late 1980s, her mom, older brother and older sister soon moved to Maryland where they would reside most of her life. Nayda was very shy as a child but enjoyed drawing. Her natural skill as an artist was very evident at a young age, however it was her vision and imagination through her art, that mostly impressed her mother. She entered Nayda in her first art competition at the age of three. Nayda found enjoyment in giving herself personal challenges. She recalls studying and practicing the alphabet in print and cursive obsessively until the letters were formed perfectly, in her eyes. Although that obsession was weird and annoying to her siblings, she won the National Handwriting Competition from 3rd grade to 6th grade. The self-given challenges did not end there. Nayda became an All American track athlete as a child and competed through college. Although Nayda recognized her skill in track, she understood that her first love, art, was her true purpose. Drawing was always a way to create a fantasy, express her emotions and talk about her experiences. Art was a way that she could create anything she wanted without having to worry about discrimination or money. Today she still gives herself personal challenges. Nayda creates art that reflect her interpretation of human behavior, culture and history. The challenge for her is to correlate those ideas to create something beautiful.
