Masiah Lumpkin

Visual Art – Connecticut, CT

Masiah Lumpkin was born in September of 1998, and grew up in the small town of Windsor, Connecticut. Since young, Masiah has been involved in arts, primarily performing arts. From youth, she partook in programs like African Dance & Drums, Ballet, Jazz Dance, Tap Dancing, Martial Arts, and Cheerleading. Her undying love for art stems from her early years as a dancer, and her exposure to different types of music, sounds, and instruments. This was her first introduction to feeling through art. In her adolescence, art classes were her favorite to attend; mainly because it was an easy grade for doing what she enjoyed. She always endured a sense of perfection when it came to art in school, as opposed to handing in mediocrity for a grade. It wasn't until her late years of high school when she discovered fine arts as another form of expression. Masiah loved drawing, and even more, she loved painting, and enjoyed the concept of color play. After exiting primary school, and transitioning to college, where she studies psychology as a major, she began to pick up fine artistry as a hobby, and incorporates much of her studies into her work. Today, Masiah is best known for her free-spirit, mystique, and eclecticism conveyed through her art. Influences present in her work are the 70’s, funk, and psychedelic culture. Her overall body of work is commonly expressed through the feminine as an acknowledgement and praise to womanhood. ...more
