Later in Life Jewelry by Joyce Plantenga

Accessories – Indianapolis

I was raised on a small family farm in west central Illinois during the 60's . With the long winters,we had to find something to fill our time. I did many little things such as dough ornaments, paint by number( because my art talent wasn't very good) and crocheting. My first husband and I did the black powder rendezvous which was re-enacting the fur trade era. That's when I really became interested in the American native style of beading. Of course, just like everyone else, life happened and didn't get the chance to pursue the jewelry business until now. After finally being able to work part time, I was able to return to what really interested me, my native American roots and started my own business in 2017. I am now fully retired and can devote most of my time to doing what I love. I now live in Lafayette, Indiana. I have two wonderful children and four grandchildren. My husband and I now plan on doing craft shows and hopefully a lot of traveling.
