Music – Orange County

I began my journey as a musician at a very young age, but I am almost entirely self-taught. I started singing along in the car to the music my dad would play for me, including artists like Enya, Talking Heads, and a lot of 80s pop. I was about 15 when I first started writing my own music. I had picked up a guitar and taught myself basic chords, and eventually worked my way up to simple riffs and rhythmic patterns. My songs were very simple folk songs in the beginning, as I was heavily influenced by artists like Neil Young and Bob Dylan at the time. As I got older, I became increasingly interested in electronic music and the endless possibilities it had to offer. Experimental pop artists like Animal Collective, Yeasayer, Kate Bush, and countless others, inspired me to experiment with production and the way it can affect songwriting. I found that with a laptop, a synthesizer, a drum machine, and a sample player, I could be my own band, and construct fully fleshed out pop songs just like the ones I admire. I\'m currently attending NYU for their Recorded Music program, as I hope to eventually record other artists, but also continue my own journey as a songwriter and recording artist.
