Kyle Caris Ceramics

Visual Art – Orange County

Kyle Caris was born and raised in Laguna Beach, California. He began ceramics at the early age of sixteen in his junior year of high school. It was there he learned the basics of ceramics and immediately found his passion for clay. After high school he continued his education at Orange Coast College where he studied under Professor Kevin Myers. There Kyle began to understand the chemistry and science behind ceramics and was taught how to compliment form with color and design. Kyle’s focus has been on the potter’s wheel but was encouraged to move out of his comfort zone and try other building techniques of ceramics. Although he is a potter he has felt that being diverse in multiple fields of ceramics would make him more universally skilled. Having been raised in Southern California, Kyle draws his inspiration from the rolling hills and the ocean which also plays into his color palette and his love for earth tones and rich blue colors. Currently Kyle is a teacher and lab tech at a local studio in Santa Ana, Muddy’s Studio, where he continues to make his work and inspires others with his passion for art. His work has been shown at the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach and recently Kyle has been accepted to the Kansas City Art Institutes’ Bachelor Of Fine Arts program to further his study into the art of ceramics.
