Kaitlin Grebe - OddDeer Art

Visual Art – Atlanta

Kaitlin Grebe is graduating this December with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drawing/Painting) at Kennesaw State University's School of Art & Design. She has always been seen with a pencil and sketchbook in hand, even before learning to walk or talk. On top of her Senior Exhibition show approaching in November, Kaitlin has participated in several art shows throughout her years at Kennesaw State, including 3 previous shows with the RAW team, a pin-up show at Kennesaw State, and one of her oil pieces recently being voted as one of the jury’s favorites at the MOCA GA pin-up art show in March 2017. Kaitlin chose her out-of-state show with RAW in Raleigh to feel out the art scene, as she anticipates moving to North Carolina once she graduates, where she will continue to pursue and grow her art career. Kaitlin loves experimenting with all forms of media, but her favorites include oil paints and the combination of ink and watercolor. She is known by her family, friends, peers and professors for her impeccable attention to detail and color in her artworks, but lately she has ambitiously ventured off into the abstract-expressionism/realism realms, allowing her and her subject’s thoughts and emotions to become the focus of her pieces, rather than the actual subjects, themselves. This realm of painting has been essential for Kaitlin’s growth as an artist, because she’s realized her emotions tend to guide her through each piece more so than technicality. With this discovery, Kaitlin continues to pursue finding a happy medium between realism and abstraction, hoping to reach a powerful balance of being able to visually communicate both the subject and its emotions to the viewer.
