Carrie Clayton-Khep

Visual Art – Portland

Born and raised in Oregon, Carrie is a self-taught artist whose only formal training in technique took place in high school… Though she has always remained a creative soul, her talents lay dormant until she had an awakening in the year 2000 when she began to pick up the paints and brushes again for the first time in nearly 20 years. Carrie’s first pieces of art were done in oil and were very “off the wall” as she developed and settled into her own style. Her interests grew as she began painting scenes with a play on words, and later she started developing her “Mind Series”. “What if your current state of mind dictated your physical appearance? How would you deal with the social stigma of that particular state of mind?” In an effort to help individuals that may struggle or have issues tied to their personality, Carrie began writing a book based on the Characters she envisioned. She and several friends took part in the production of a short video introducing a few of the “Mind Stormers” she was working on. They brought to life her characters, shedding light on what their specific challenges might be, and most importantly, they shared valuable tools anyone could use to work through similar situations successfully. The Video was made to introduce the “Mind Characters” to the publishing world with the hopes of adding and introducing new minds along the way specific to the perils of each particular mind set…
