HL Leather Co.

Accessories – Boise

My name is Mariah Lentz, the gal behind HL Leather Co. This whole adventure began with a high school project where I absolutely fell in love with leather, the culture of western art, and making something equally as beautiful as it was functional. HL Leather Co. didn't take off until 5 years later; I had wanted to get back to making anything leather ever since high school but didn't have the time or money for tools until I took a year off from college, when I finally had a little more time and a little more money. Before I knew it I was drowning in custom orders along with returning to college, working 30 hours a week, and I got burnt out and put the business and artwork on hold to be a wildland firefighter (something I've done with my summers since high school). After spending a summer in some of the most beautiful country in the west, I returned for my final year of school ready to get after creating what I wanted and sustaining it as a business. Currently I have been taking less custom orders and focusing on making anything I am inspired to make; which has primarily been jewelry. I am proud of the fact I am not a typical leatherworker, but much of my inspiration comes from them, as well from nature and the western fashion industry. My goal is to offer something stylish, functional, and unique to my customers as well as for me with the creating process. Everything made for HL Leather Co. is drawn from scratch, cut by hand, tooled, and sewn by hand. I am very proud of everything I make because it might not be the easiest way to create, but I had every part in it, and it turns into something beautiful I know the customer will love.
