Harley O'Neill

Performing Art – New York - NYC

Hailing from the small town of Gainesville, Florida, Harley's work with students and crew members alike has been recognized both locally and nationally. She evokes a unique, urban style in her choreography that offers a soulful expression of contemporary-jazz. At the age of eighteen she set off on a year-long backpacking trip around the world, where she was fortunate enough to study the styles of contemporary, African, hip hop, jazz, and tap in Sweden, Tanzania, Australia, and China, among others. Still always inspired by the travel bug, she believes that incorporating what she's learned from her wanderings have allowed her ideas to remain vibrant, knowledgeable, and versatile- which she considers personal responsibilities to uphold as an artist and mentor in the dance world. Above all else, Harley is a firm believer that a dancer should be taught versatility, and that in doing so, he or she should be unfolded- not molded. She currently lives in NYC, where she received continued training at Broadway Dance Center, and has worked with choreographers such as Marc Kimelman and Meghan Sanett. Harley is also skilled in video production, and loves collaborating with her fellow performing community to tell stories through film. She aspires to produce creative documentaries that focus on the cultural and historical stories of dance around the world, and by doing so, inform and captivate greater audiences wanting to be a part of meaningful social movements.
