Visual Art – Charlotte

I was born a creative soul, a natural repurposer, I salvaged and recycled what I could and loved to reinvent it. I have learned that art is about the passion you bring forth to your work. I am a tactile artist, have always been driven to dimensional work, fascinated by art that included random found objects injected into it with care. My work is spontaneous, dictated by materials that find their way to me. Being a sustainable artist I realize I have been drawn to a specific texture, shape and color; verging on earthy tones, soft and inconspicuous. The act of salvaging is a drawn out game of patience; find that which appeals to you and wait to collect enough to create something meaningful. I collect a myriad of recyclables at one time, never knowing when I will have enough of one or the other to turn it into art or when its purpose hits me. While these sit in a corner collecting, my subconscious keeps them catalogued, and in my sleep, my brain has the ability to focus solely on my creations. I wake up in the middle of the night dreaming of an incredible project and that is when I go to work on it. I know a piece is done when I can appreciate it for how it looks and the feeling of pride I get when the public responds to it.
