Civilized Villain

Civilized Villain was created out of severe growing pains. The ones where you find yourself saying how should I handle this? Like the young professional scholar you are becoming or the brutally honest Jersey native that you are? 22 year old graduate student, Ashley Hughes often had to decide one way or the other. Through this “struggle” Civilized Villain the blog was birthed. It spoke to the traditional milestones of a 20- something. Summer 2011 Ashley launched her career as a Director of Resource Development. To ease the stress of her 9 to 5 she tapped into her creative side distressing 5 pairs of jeans in the summer of 2012. This launched Civilized Villain, upcycled denim. Since then CV has grown into patchwork, and studding for men, women, and children. We have designed denim for Reginae Carter (lil’ Waynes Daughter), Miss Atlantic City 2012, and Bad Girls Club star Ms.Kat. In 2013 we were featured in the Pure Paradise II movie promo starring Kevin Hart sidekick & comedian Spank. In August of 2013 we relocated to St. Louis and fell in love with Clr-Mnstr Art Space & Boutique, who seasonally carries our denim. Civilized Villain speaks to those with growing pains and a love for denim. We focus on Fashion & Philanthropy, to take an element as popular as fashion and introduce social responsibility to young adults through community involvement. CV can be a racy at times but we custom make each piece to the clients style and comfort.
