Catharsis Toronto

Accessories – Toronto

After a 7 year stint in sales and the corporate world, founder and designer Ty Henwood was fed up. For years, his own lack of self esteem and the stifling environment was building up negatvity, creating health issues, obesity, and depression. He reached a low point one day when looked in the mirror and saw a person he didn't recognize. He decided that this person was not who he wanted to be, so needing change, he sold his car, relocated to Toronto, bought a bicycle, and worked on reframing how he saw life. He lost nearly 100 pounds, rediscovered his love for design and creative pursuits, and through his personal development began to realize that both happiness and success start with how you feel about yourself. In the following two years he has fallen in love with Toronto and its culture, and turned his personal life and habits around completely. The word Catharsis comes from an ancient Greek term used by philosophers of old. It is a term with more than one meaning today, but in essence, it is the purging, release and expression of emotion, usually through Art. Toronto is a city that lives by this idea. Looking at our streets, architecture, our vastly diverse people, even the food; art is integral to our way of life. Creativity is in our blood, our souls! We just have to release it from its shackles: self-doubt, fear, and limiting beliefs. Ty founded Catharsis Toronto in August 2018 with a soft launch to build a strong relationship with the community. Selling at local markets, building rapport with businesses and entrepreneurs in the city, he has developed a plan to help empower others to achieve similar life changes and feel better about themselves. The pieces and accessories are physical embodiments of self-esteem, reminders to live with your head held high and keep your hands out of your pockets! Accessories are just the beginning!
