Visual Art – Boston

Brendan Lehman was born in 1997 and raised in Arlington Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. I picked up a pencil and sketchbook at age 5 and practiced drawing everyday for years. It wasn't until I reached high school, that my social interests overtook my love for art. By late into my junior year of highschool I re discovered my passion for creating in the form of graffiti characters and letters. As I found my interest in school and partying rapidly diminishing, my drive to create grew stronger. I began to move away from graffiti and became amazed with tattoo art and illustrations. By my senior year of highschool, math equations and essays had been replaced with figure drawings and portraits. I graduated Arlington High School in 2015 and went on to Lesley University to continue my artistic and academic studies. It was there that I learned how to draw realistic objects and portraits with charcoal. But I also realized I didn't want to be an illustrator with a background in academics, but instead a self directed artist fully dedicated to creating. I dropped out of Lesley and a half a year later went to the school of the museum of fine arts, located in Boston Massachusetts. While there I was given studio space and fine art classes where I found my love for oil painting. After a year at the school of the museum of fine arts I decided I still wanted more freedom to pursue exactly what I wanted to so I left and fully dedicated my time to oil painting. I Am now a full time artist, constantly exploring, discovering and enjoying the process of creating.
