Alyssa Cowan

Performing Art – Washington, D.C.

Alyssa grew up disturbing her grade school teachers with her prematurely abundant knowledge of Saturday Night Live and Conan O’Brien bits. Her mother was the first to notice her propensity for comedy, and suggested that she pursue it as a career. Young Alyssa initially shrugged the idea off, saying that comedians were all poor and she wanted to be a rock star or pro-wrestler instead. Like her hometown of Reno, Nevada, Alyssa may be too quirky to describe. Her comedy ranges from witty observational humor to history based jokes, from one-liners to absurd hypothetical scenarios. She’s known to catch the attention of crowds with her cute delivery style. Experienced in short form improv and sketch comedy, Alyssa fuses her offbeat jokes with an impromptu ad lib style that effectively engages audiences. Her biggest comedic influences are Jimmy Carr, Conan O’Brien, Steven Wright, Mitch Hedberg, David Mitchell and Demetri Martin.
