Photography – New York - NYC

Lidia completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Painting & Drawing at San Francisco State University, California in 2009. Previously she had taken a two- year course of professional photography at the Institute of Art and Communications (Arcos) in Chile, her country of origin. There she was classically trained in photography during the time of film and darkrooms, and later on digital photography. She developed her passion for photography early on as a teenager, and since then it was her dream to make her hobby her actual career. She worked as an assistant in her late teens and while going to Photography school in Chile she devoted her time to photograph a numerous amount of writers at the “Cycle of writers’ Interview” in Bellavista, Santiago. Those photographs were put on a permanent exhibition. Before moving to the United States in 2004, she worked as a Photographer for a prestigious Chilean Magazine called De Salon. There she covered interviews, and fashions shows, gaining valuable experience working in the fast paced magazine industry by creating high quality images under tight deadlines. She has traveled to numerous countries around the world, including Asia, Europe and Latin America, which helped her become more open-minded and respectful of all different cultures and beliefs. Lidia moved to New York City in 2009 where she worked at a Photography Studio in Brooklyn, and later in Manhattan. This opportunity fine-tuned her understanding of photo journalistic & candid style photography, and improved her ability to quickly assess situations, and identify the correct lenses to use, the aperture needed, and the appropriate lighting for each shot. During the last 16 years she has photographed people of all ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities. She has acquired skills in all phases of portrait photography including, studio, editorial, weddings, pregnancy, and artists of all kind. Currently Lidia is the owner/photographer of New York Magazine Faces & Lidia Wedding Photography.
