Visual Art – Philadelphia
I grew up in south jersey, but have been a resident of the Philadelphia area since my early teenage yrs; and have been drawing since I was 4 yrs old. My mother and father both dabbled in the arts and helped me to hone my talents growing up by doing everything from drawing with me to keeping me involved with art related events &/or classes; because of that I have been able to grow as an artist over the years and never lost the passion for it. I started doing fan art, but as I became older and learned of my African heritage/culture, mostly from my father who always kept me knowledgeable about my African roots, I found myself drawn to it and it's reflective in the art I produce now, as well as my lifestyle in general. I want to create a bridge between ancient African history/culture/spirituality and the modern day African American experience, for this is the lens from which I experience my own life.
