The Lyrical Groove is a spoken soul, jazzed out, hip hop, R&B infused band that bridges all of the above, with meaningful lyrics.
The Lyrical Groove was formed under the motivation of spoken word artist, Kendrick Dial. His desire was to have live music accompany his performance of poetry. The pursuit of collaboration then began with friend and Louisiana born drummer, Glenn \"GK\" Sanders; a bass player by way of Norfolk, Virginia, Darrel Pretlow; and a keyboardist, Mike Smith, all of who\'s dedication match their motivation.
The group officially formed in November 2010, after a gig at the Ruby Room. An overwhelming, affirming crowd response cemented in the group\'s minds what their hearts were warming up to.
In July 2011, musically constipated Bay Area native guitarist, Mike \"Token\" Benedetto, joined the band adding elements of rhythm and structure that seemed to complete their groove.
The Lyrical Groove have performed all over San Diego, CA at a collage of events ranging from fund-raisers, church and youth programs, music concerts, wine tastings, to multiple local venue sponsored events at the Onyx Room, Humphreys Backstage Lounge, Winston’s, The House of Blues, and Anthologys.
