Charlene Maguire

Visual Art – Orange County

A native of Massachusetts, Charlene has enjoyed creating things since she was very young. Her best memories all through school were always in the art rooms. This included a couple great teachers she connected with as well as the smells, colors, and experimentation with different art materials. After graduating from The University of Massachusetts with a degree in painting and absolutely no idea how to go about living life as an artist, Charlene got a job in a large art supply store. Also at this time, graphic design software was in it's infancy and she was intrigued by the world of graphic design...as well as the steady paycheck that would allow her the freedom to move on in her life. Since then she has been on a journey through teaching herself software and applying her talents to the design and advertising worlds, and learning a lot. After one layoff in 2001, Charlene got back to her painting again. She created, exhibited, and sold a number of fantasy themed paintings and prints at convention shows such as DragonCon, LunaCon, Boskone, and Arisia. Her fantasy work is in collections around the United States. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2004, her artwork and her life have taken on several other different forms, but her bright and lively style is still there. Charlene loves to create work that is fun, colorful, illuminating, beautiful, inspiring, and will somehow stimulate your feelings after you've seen it. One major discovery about creativity has come through Charlene's journey with yoga. She's discovered that her health and higher levels of creativity go together. The better she takes care of herself, the more connected she is to creative inspiration. Yoga has seen Charlene through many life changes and challenges, and has helped her get out of her head and back into the moment. When she's in the moment, inspiration can flow. Yoga is a practice, as is her art. They both teach her incredible things about her life!
