Visual Art – Atlanta

Art makes my heart go pity-pat. Always has, since I can remember. I grew up in Lexington, Ky. with a brief venture to Hazel Green Academy (where my mom went to school) for high school. I graduated from UK with a degree in Painting and Drawing then went on to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to get my master’s in painting. Traditional and digital media interest me equally. I cut my chops sketching kids in band and orchestra and jazz musicians. Then went on to study portraiture and life drawing with Nancy Honea, Kris Meadows, John Horne, Shane MacDonald and Kristina Havens in Atlanta and many fine instructors at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia. I taught for 4 years at the Art Institute of Atlanta. Beyond college, I’ve studied PhotoShop, Illustrator, and InDesign, including workshops in photography, lighting, typography, graphic design, marketing, and user experience. I now practice graphic design at AutoIMS, a software development company in Atlanta, GA and attend Kristina Haven’s figure studio in Woodstock, GA. I’m interested in reaching an essence, either of the human condition (drawing/painting from life) or in capturing the core of an idea (graphic design/branding).
