Performing Art – Kansas City

Since an early age Serenity has had a love for the arts. She was very active in band, choir, story writing, dance(hip hop), and dabbled in song writing and acting while in school. In her adult life she turned her focus to education and self improvement eventually earning her MBA. In her spare time she always wrote poetry and longed to get back into the arts. In 2009 she shared one of her poems at ULIT a local open mic and soon grew more comfortable on the mic. She turned her focus to performing spoken word in late 2011. Since 2011 Serenity has preformed in a few T.L. Williams Productions of Bold New Poets, opened for poet Sheri \"Purpose\" Hall in her Fringe Festival production of MoDézir: The Word Jones Experience in 2012, been on 90.1fm several times, The gospel of poets, and has had two poetry features in 2014. She has had a hand in the planning of a few events in the local poetry community. Her style is similar to her name and has been coined as very smooth and \"serene\" with a hint of sass. Her poetry subjects range from self awareness and spirituality to love and politics. She says she wants to be able to go into any type of venue and share her art. She believes her creativity can\'t be boxed or labeled.
