Performing Art – New York - Brooklyn

Through exploration of what makes us move, we can develop a deeper understanding of what brings people together, and what defines us as creative individuals. I believe in collaboration, creation, and movement for people of all backgrounds and abilities. Jessie Sector is an Astoria, NY based choreographer, dancer, and teacher. She is currently a teaching artist for Pilobolus Dance Theater, and for local studios in Astoria, and Riverdale. With Pilobolus, Sector teaches classes for ages 2 to 82, believing that movement and creativity should be accessible to all humans, regardless of age, ability, or circumstance. She often teaches guest workshops and master classes on creative collaboration, partnering, floor work, team skills, and improvisation. Since moving to NYC in 2013, Sector has created work for various festivals and companies, including Nacre Dance, DanceWorks NYC, Geomantics Dance Theater, and CheckIt! Dance. She has performed with Pilobolus Dance Theater at the MIT Centennial celebration, with Kelley Donovan and Dancers, Jessica Gaynor Dance, DanceWorks NYC, Caitlin Parrish Dance, Maja Bakija, Vector Dane Company, and many other talented artists in the NYC area. Sector is a 2013 graduate of SUNY College at Brockport, receiving bachelors degrees in both Dance and Interdisciplinary Arts for Children under faculty including Bill Evans, Suzanne Oliver, Mariah Maloney, Kevin Warner, Juanita Suarez, and Maura Keefe. While at Brockport, she obtained her NYS Elementary education certification for grades 1-6 and for special education, grades 1-6, and also competed as an NCAA Pole Vaulter. Sector has continued her training in NYC through workshops with Pilobolus Dance Theater, David Dorfman Dance, STREB Extreme Action, Grounded Aerial Dance, the 92nd Street Y's DEL programs, and Mark Degarmo Dynamic Forms.
