Performing Art – Nashville

RoShunda Brown is a Nashville based educator and choreographer that currently teaches and choreographs for multiple studios throughout the middle Tennessee area, to include being a core faculty member at Millenium Nashville. She began her dance training with Melanie Smith in Austin, Texas, where she grew up. Post high school graduation, RoShunda continued to train in Cunningham and Limon modern techniques at Café Dance. She later completed a study of dance at Western Kentucky University, where she trained in ballet, jazz, and modern. She was a member of the WKU Dance Company; through which she had many performance opportunities to include Tennessee Dance Association Gala, and Jazz Dance World Congress. While at Western RoShunda had the privilege to train with top national and international teachers and choreographers to include Carlos Dos Santos (choreographer of YAGP, Alvin Ailey), Angelica Burgos (Joffery Ballet, Ballet Hispanico), and Eric Rivera (Westside Story, Ballet Hispanico). She has also had the opportunity to be a performer on the “Overseas” dance tour through Italy. RoShunda was a company member of Nashville’s Found Movement Group, under the direction of Stacie Flood-Popp. Through her time with the company she had the opportunity be a cast member in a collaborative show with the musical group BASECAMP, entitled Gradient. You can find RoShunda in music videos for artists such as Heather Cole, and Rizzi Myers, as well as a live performance with Jake Owen. RoShunda has created a 45 min length Show entitled The Wonder Years for Found Movement Group, and two hour length collaborative shows with Travis Cooper for ViShun Movement Dance Collective. She has been recognized as a rising choreographer, through the Choreographer’s Sponsorship Event hosted by jazz company, Inaside Chicago Dance and RAD Festival. RoShunda currently serves as the Faculty Director of the new national touring convention BellaMoxi, which launched in Bowling Green, KY in fall 2015.
