Fashion – Philadelphia
I've loved clothes ever since I was a little girl! I've been sewing since I was about 12 and have had a shopping addiction before I can even remember. After spending 2 years as an Assistant Buyer for a Corporate Fashion company, I realized I wasn't fulfilled. Of course I still loved the clothes and trends, but I felt like something was missing. It felt wrong to be flooding the market with cheap, mass produced items. It felt wrong to be slowly killing the environment and pretending not to care. Thats when I realized a fun thing I used to do in college could help change all of that. RE PURPOSING OLD CLOTHING. Why do we as a society need to keep buying more and more crap?! Why don't we upcylce/repurpose old clothing and just alter the silhouettes and styling to just make it more fashion forward? Thus, came the birth of RENU. It's funny to look back to when I sewed as a child, I made old rags into cute little purses. Now 11 years later I'm finding what some would call "rags" and giving them new life!
