Perri Salka

Visual Art – New York - Brooklyn

Born and raised in Oakdale, Long Island. Perri then moved to NYC in 2005 and received a BFA degree from The School of Visual Arts in 2009. She currently lives and paints in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Perri Salka uses ink and water in a similar vein as traditional water coloring to create experimental, methodical and meditational works on Yupo paper in an attempt to clarify inks\' intrinsic properties and purpose as a material. Yupo is a non-absorbant paper with a sleek surface that allows ink to flow freely, as if dropped into a glass of water, allowing the artist to capture the foot print of the ink as it settles on the paper\'s surface with little interference from her hand.
