Visual Art – New York - Brooklyn

Perri MacKenzie was born in Atlanta, GA in 1996. Her family moved to Worthington, OH in 2008. She studied Painting at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, and recently graduated with an Associates Degree. As a child, she was brought up with a huge emphasis on art. In second grade her mother even hired a tutor to teach her art history. In high school, her artwork won Honorable Mention in The Scholastics art competition of 2012, she held an internship at the McConnell Arts Center her Junior year, worked as an artist assistant to Ohio State artist Doo Sung Yoo winter of 2014, had a scenic painting internship with Stiegelbauer Associates in the Spring of 2014, and had her art featured in the Focus On Five show at the McConnell Arts Center. During her high school years, she had her first taste of working as a scenic painter on high school productions all four years of schooling in the Thomas Worthington High School theater program which put on around twelve productions a year, each with a different set. In college, she was the underclassman representative for the Painting Club at Pratt Institute 2015-2016 and had artwork featured in two group shows with the Painting Club in 2015 and 2016. Perri interned with The Cotton Candy Machine Gallery owned by Artist Tara McPherson from September 2015 to June 2016 and was featured in their Biannual Submissional Show in December 2015. Perri had her first solo show at Boom! Theater in Brooklyn, NY in April 2016. She showcased her Drips Installation at Pratt from April 25th to May 6th, 2016. Her most recent show was a group show with the Associates Degree Program at Pratt in the 2nd Floor Gallery of Pratt Manhattan open to the public during the month of May 2016. From July through October 2016, Perri spent four months painting sets at a set shop in Burbank, CA. She worked on productions such as Lip Sync Battle, Masterchef, The Emmy’s, The Comedy Central Rob Lowe Roast, and the CBS show What The App?. In November 2016, Perri returned to New York to pursue scenic painting, as well as work on her own personal abstract paintings currently featuring drips and silver leaf. She currently works at the Blackwalnut set shop in Valley Cottage, NY as a scenic painter, painting on productions such as the Winter Olympics 2018, Major League Soccer, and Megan Kelly for NBC. She works on her own artwork from her studio in Bushwick.
