Visual Art – Orlando
I'm Pearl: a painter, sculptor and installation artist. I have been an artist as long as I can remember. I have lived in Orlando, Florida for most of my life. In 2010, I left for graduate school in Boston at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University immediately following my undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida. Looking back at all of the disciplines in art I have practiced I have found that the common thread in my work is always nostalgia. I have always been obsessed with the vintage and collected. In my mixed media paintings, I use vintage sheet music and assorted maps, placing them in a contemporary context. The selected paper used in the works either acts in harmony or offers juxtaposition with the subject. I am interested our relationships to the past and the future that keeps us from living in the present.
