Old Royals

Old Royals are a band based in Hartford, CT. Their sound is the result of folk songwriting played loud and distorted over a driving rhythm section. Old Royals are dual songwriter/singers/guitarists Ryan Loftus and James Duffy, bassist Tom Hickey, and drummer Ian Cluggish. With diverse individual tastes and backgrounds, the resulting sound is a fresh, dynamic approach to rock \'n’ roll. The band will soon release the \'Four Houses\' EP, recorded on and off over the past two years and inspired by the spaces the songs were created and recorded in, as well as the band\'s growth from individual musicians to a collective unit with a mutual desire to make music that moves them. Through a common appreciation of music, beer, old instruments and recording gear, a naturally tight and concise sound has been crafted, providing both in-depth songwriting and an invigorating live show. Old Royals records all of their own music, giving them full ability to craft their sound from top to bottom. One song can span from finger picked acoustic to harmonized guitar solos and double kick, without feeling forced. The band has embarked on their next chapter and have begun recording their first full length release; a collection of songs that have long been in their live repertoire, to be released later this year.
