Visual Art – Boston

Monicka Hasan (Randolph, United States) creates mixed media artworks and paintings. With the rich history of Jacob Lawrence in mind, Hasan makes work that deals with the documentation of the lives of people and the question of how they can be presented. The work tries to express this with the help of textiles, and pushes to tell a unique story. Her mixed media artworks are an investigation into representations of (seemingly) concrete ideas and situations that can only be realized in mixed media art. By focusing on techniques and materials, she is making art a craft, which is executed and explores social reality. Her works are often about contact with architecture and basic living elements; Energy (heat, light, water). By creating a void around her subjects, space and landscape are examined in less obvious ways. Her works are notable for their perfect finish and tactile nature. This is of great importance and bears witness to great craftsmanship.
