Mreeuh Chang

Visual Art – Miami

Mreeuh Chang is a tattooer, illustrator, painter, conceptual artist and writer. Her body of work includes paintings on canvas, mixed media, functional goods, handwritten relics, children’s literature and permanent body art. Her work often features women in fantastical landscapes, mythological symbols, architecture, anatomical structures and geometric patterns. Mreeuh has a passion for travel, the oddities of connection, revealing the unobvious and unifying seemingly contradictory elements. A daughter of Korean immigrants, Mreeuh was born in Atlanta, GA in 1991. She has had no formal art training but began her tattoo apprenticeship at Studio Seven Design at the age of 19. While working as a tattoo artist and developing technical skills, she left university three times after changing her major constantly. In 2013, she lived as an nomadic expat in South Korea for five months, returning to Miami to feature her work in Wynwood during Art Basel. She lived out of a suitcase for a year. Currently, Mreeuh lives and works between Cincinnati and Miami.
