Visual Art – St. Louis

I grew up in the St Louis area homeschooled until 15, when I began taking college courses at East Central College. I also began drawing and writing at that point, and continued the creativity in any free time I had until I began as a full time art student at ECC. I graduated ECC in 2014 with my Associate of Fine Art degree with honors, numerous awards and the foundational creative skills that would ultimately drive me forward in my future at the Kansas City Art Institute, studying illustration in pursuit of a BFA. In October 2014, during a difficult battle with depression, I dove head first into my webcomic project and found solace and escapism in the process of writing and creating the story and world within. Though when I started the project, I had no plans to pursue publishing, only the challenge of seeing how far I could get. Creating the comic however eased my suffering and I and many other readers fell in love with the characters and plot, and I decided to re-work the script and pursue publication of the first volume of \'Character\' for my senior thesis at KCAI, 2015-16. I enjoy working with narratives- often a bit darker in nature- and telling stories through my work, whether an illustration in accompaniment with a written piece, a worded, traditional comic page, or simply leaving the story vague and up to the viewer to create for themselves.
