Visual Art – Charlotte

I have been creating ever since I was a child, always drawing, painting, and making things out of whatever objects I could get my hands on. A few years ago I was introduced to ceramics and was immediately captivated by the pliable nature of clay. Playing off of the organic nature of the material most of my pieces (utilitarian or sculptural) are composed of very fluid shapes or abstract forms inspired by nature. My utilitarian pieces reflect the patterns and motifs found in plant life both on land and in submarine seascapes. Conceptually, I approach my sculptures with the general idea of perspective; the inward thought versus the outward reflection of self, while keeping with the visual cues taken from nature and science. I love color and texture implementing either bold colors or detailed carvings to my pieces.
