Kate Johnson Artistry

Ten Years ago I was in college as a musical theatre major. I had to take a makeup class and fell in love! I changed my major and received a degree in Special Effects Makeup and Hair for film and photography from Cal State Fullerton. While designing there I was fortunate to be nominated for 5 Kennedy Center ACTF awards for excellence in makeup and hair design. I quickly learned that there is no greater rush than to see your work go from product scattered around a studio to an intregal part of who a character is on stage or in film. I loved it so much more than performing and the process was more fulfilling seeing it come together. Since moving to Chicago I have had the privledge to do editorial in magazines such as CS Social, Seventeen Prom and Pagentry Magazine as well as multiple runway shows for Akira and local charites. Recently I have worked in television for Project Accessories, Inspiration Network and multiple film projects with EPIC productions. As a regional artistry trainer for Smashbox Cosmetics I am lucky enough to have the opportuntiy to train makeup artist every day and work with some of the best product in the world. Im very much looking forward to showcasing my hair work at RAW and meeting more of the local community of artists. I love to collaborate with designers and photographers to help there vision come to life through makeup and hair and cant wait to see the final product.
