Kate Bodine

Visual Art – Philadelphia

Philadelphia artist, Kate Bodine concentrated heavily on art in high school and studied briefly at Moore College of Art and Design. After years of only creating occasionally for freelance projects, she has recently made painting her personal focus. Using mainly acrylic paint, Bodine captures the personalities of animals, living or dead. Bodine uses the animals natural environment, and sometimes the people indigenous to said environment, as a platform supporting miscellaneous animal heads. Bodine, has always been captivated and inspired by Salvador Dali. This shows in her vast landscapes as featured in several of her works. She has more recently been studying light sources and been applying paint heavier, with more depth and richness. Foccusing on light has given Bodine's work a balance between soft cool tones and rich warm tones. Bodine can also be seen supporting other Philadelphia artists, curating a show once a month for Manayunk's up and coming First Fridays. She looks forward to growing as an artist and is proud to be living in a city where art is thriving.
