Fashion – Los Angeles

Karina Cardona (www.karinacardona.com) is a LA based fashion designer with Colombian roots whose passion for making innovative contributions to the industry are defined by her humble beginnings. In 2009 after graduating from FIDM, Los Angeles with a Fashion Product Development Major, she launched her career in the fashion industry by working in multiple start-ups as an assistant designer and working in production houses as a production manager’s assistant. Feeling confident and motivated with the knowledge she obtained while working in the field she decided her passion from learning could continue to develop. This led her to go back to school where she studied Fashion Design and patternmaking in La Salle International College in Barranquilla, Colombia and ultimately allowed her to truly make her debut as designer in the fashion industry. Here she was given the opportunity to become part of runway shows organized and hosted by the school as a student showcase. Some of her most recognizable contributions to fashion are her collaboration with Colombian photographer Ezequiel Buelvas, known as Black Widow which was published on May 28th 2015 by B-Authentique Online Magazine. In her relentless pursuit of continual growth and tapping into her creative spirit, Karina now makes up one third of a LA based podcast with two colleagues called, Style Tape; a self-narrative of three female freelancers who enjoy sharing their struggles and triumphs within the fashion industry and the shenanigans that accompanies their daily lives.
