Visual Art – Toronto

I am a visual artist and art instructor living and working in Brampton, ON. I studied art and design at Northern Secondary School and then was an award-winning graduate of the Ontario College of Art. After a 20-odd year design career, my wife (also an artist) and I spent a year travelling the continent in a camper van — the gap year we never took earlier! I then switched my attention to fine art and art instruction. While I only occasionally do design work now, my designer’s eye informs ALL of my art: a love of text and typography, structure, impact, bold colour and a graphic sensibility. Exhibition highlights: In 2012 I exhibited a 180-piece installation, General Classification, centred on the Tour de France, shown at Station Gallery, Whitby as part of Reading the Image, Olexander Wlasenko, curator. (Also chosen as part of Get Noticed at Red Head Gallery, Toronto, 2014, Erin Stump and Powell MacDougall, curators.) I was one of three artists presenting a self-mounted show at Milton’s Holcim Gallery: Offence/Defence, examining the roles fences play in our lives, 2013. Recent solo exhibitions: Grid Play, De Facto Gallery, Hamilton, Megan Press, curator, 2015, and ColourPlayWordSpray, Otto Art, Toronto, 2016. I’ve also shown at Toronto’s Queen West Art Crawl in 2016 and 2017.
