Jonatas Chimen

Visual Art – Madison

I draw my influences from the things I see, the experiences I live, and the people I meet. As a child, still in Brazil at the local museum\'s art school, I first experimented with the figurative style. As a teenager, I was highly influenced by the Sequential Art of Edgar Franco, from whom I learned the philosophical fantasy and existentialism present in art. My greatest influence, however, came later on when I was introduced to the Spanish and the Baroque techniques at the Art Institute of Weston by Conchita Firgau, whom provided me with a foundation reminiscent from her classical European background, as a graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando (Madrid-Spain), whose fellow alumni include Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and Fernando Botero.
