John Huneycutt
Photography – Charlotte
John Huneycutt, an award-winning photographer and North Carolina native,
currently lives outside of Charlotte. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
from Wingate University in 2004, and since then his work has been featured
in both regional and national magazines, as well as museums. John’s wet plate
photography generally consists of the natural world in and around his home
state.
Wet Plate Collodion is a 19th century, photographic technique that produces
images on metal plates (tintypes) with the use of specific chemicals. John is
one of a very few contemporary artists who have revisited and revived this
photographic method. He uses period camera and lenses and hand-mixes
all of the necessary chemicals for each exposure. The process is a laborious,
hands-on technique that produces one-of-a-kind images with perfect
authenticity.
