Performing Art – Boston

For the past decade Jenny Oliver has performed and contributed to, the Boston Dance Community. She received her BA Degree in 2005 and in 2009 received the Excellence in Achievement Award from the School at Jacob’s Pillow. Having worked with a variety of artists, her body is informed by vernacular movement and dance history. In October she will travel to the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida to work as an Associate Artist in Residence with choreographer, Reggie Wilson. Beginning 2013, she traveled to Haiti to teach modern dance and has become an avid arts advocate for all people to be able to understand its contributions and affects on societal growth. This past summer she worked with LA-based choreographer, Brigette Dunn-Korpela in the Boston premiere of ECHO, an interdisciplinary production that invites discussion about social justice issues present in today’s social patchwork. Jenny is recognized by the International Dance Council (CID) based in Paris and teaches her Modern Connections class every Saturday at the Dance Complex in Cambridge. Intensely interested in the lineage of dance and how it informs society\'s parallel relationship to the course of Global History Jenny is happy to share her interests with RAW Boston!
