Visual Art – Winnipeg

I taught myself how to paint with oil by watching instructional videos on YouTube by the pop culture icon himself, Bob Ross. I did three of his paintings, then saw what would become my first original painting in a dream. Though it was a fairly simple design, I felt compelled to paint it when I woke up (the blue and yellow one; minus the birds, those were an afterthought). Though that hasn't happened again since, I continue to enjoy creating paintings inspired by optimism, geometry, and the choice to be appreciative of the many grand and beautiful things that exist in our tiny part of the universe and beyond. I love the idea of creating vibrant, uplifting, colorful paintings. I've also started painting portraits, and enjoy the challenge of creating portraits that are a reflection of the uniqueness of the subject, with different kinds of color schemes, designs, and backgrounds.
